Let's face it. Sometimes no matter how good the weld is, no matter how precise the dimensions are, if it doesn't look like quality work, then it's not quality work! That's where grinding and polishing come in, optimizing the visual appeal of your products, giving them a professional aesthetic.
Whether it's restoring a finish, polishing to a mirror, giving a piece a whole new finish, or simply acid-cleaning welds and oxidation, we bring a wide array of techniques to the table and will always so everything in our power to give your products the look you desire.
In this application, the final vessel requires all welds to have a sanitary, medical grade finish. Here an air-driven grinder is being used to grind the weld bead so that it can be blended into the larger surface.
We utilize a variety of grits to achieve different finishes. For this project, an 800 grit marine mirror finish is desired. However, we must first put the surface through 100 grit, 200 grit, 400 grit, and 600 grit, in order to achieve a consistent result,
Sometimes good old elbow grease is required. Here, a blending pad is being applied by hand to give the work piece a brushed finish as well as blend the welded and ground edges into the main body of the item.
Here the grinder is taking the surfaces through their stages of progressively finer sanding discs. Sometimes he even gets to sit down on the job!
Grinding requires a strict attention to detail. The grinder takes careful note of which surfaces have achieved certain finishes before moving on the next stage.
There's always something going on in the grinding department. Sometimes it's just deburring the sharp edges off of plates to protect our customers; other times it can be a slow, methodical process to bring another plate up to a mirror polish for a marine application. The list is endless, but so is our commitment the utmost quality in our finishes.
